About Us

The Declaration and Purpose of Covenant Community School

Covenant Community School is a community of like-minded Christians who share a common conviction regarding the standards and methods of moral and academic training of our children.  We intend on providing a school that the government, people, policies, procedures, and practices are entirely Christian in all respects.  We so propose to maintain a school environment that facilitates the righteous objectives of community members to mature their children in the precepts and holiness of Christ.  We further intend to provide an education of value and use to each of its students which exceeds the requirements of local, state and federal agencies.

The Distinctives of Covenant Community School

What Makes Us Unique

Biblical Base:  God’s Word is the primary basis for all we do and teach.  We believe that the school should have God-centered curriculum in all subject areas and that biblical truth is the foundation of every subject in submission to Christ.  The precepts of God’s Word set the absolute standard to which we are to train our children.

“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.”
(Colossians 2:8)

Parental Responsibility/ Headship:  We believe that the school should not usurp the discipline responsibilities of the home, but should reinforce the godly standards of behavior that are being taught in the home. These homes should be actively teaching children biblical standards of conduct, discipline, respect, and honor enabling our children to grow spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially.  The school should be an extension of the godly morals and biblical principles taught in the home.

“Bring them (children) up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord”
(Ephesians 6:4b)

Moral Innocence

We believe the school should aid in protecting the moral innocence of its student body.  When we speak of innocence, we refer to a worldly “naiveness”, a lack of experience with that which is unholy (the world), or lack of exposure to defilement.  We believe children should be allowed to remain children as long as they can.  The school will therefore NOT introduce concepts that are inappropriate for children, such as drug awareness, sex education, AIDS awareness, etc.  It is the responsibility of the parents to teach their children to be masters of their passions and to evaluate their child’s readiness for introducing such concepts.  We further believe that children, who have been introduced to these concepts at home, even from a biblical perspective, are to show discretion in not introducing those concepts to other children.  We hold that the character of the school reflects the collective character of the families in the school.  Therefore, when families of a school are too diverse in their views of biblical and morally questionable issues, the school’s character is weakened.

“…be wise in what is good, and innocent about  what is evil.”  (Romans 16:19b)

“… bad company corrupts good character.”
(1 Corinthians 15:33)

Other Oriented

We  believe that an orientation toward loving and serving others is not only a command of scripture (love your neighbor as yourself), but also an outflow of salvation (he who is forgiven much, loves much).  Therefore, the school is to further reinforce the preciousness of those outside of self and enhance a sense of unity among one another (how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!).  The setting of CCS provides children with opportunities to be concerned with those around them and to live out a manner of life that reflects Christ in them.

“ … in humility consider others better than yourselves.”  (Philippians 2:3b)
