FAQ

What is a "Community School"?
A "Community School" is a group of like-minded parents working together to provide their children with a quality education in a safe, Christian atmosphere.

Who will their teachers be?
The teachers at CCS are qualified educators selected by the Director of Education, Pastoral Advisor, and Board members. They are well-organized, able to work well with parents and like-minded with the community they will serve.

What about classroom size and make-up?
In order to provide an atmosphere which enables a teacher to be a mentor, as well as someone who teaches, the maximum class size will be 15 students. We would also be using a multi-grade system which depends on the number of students in each grade.

How many days a week will school be in session?
Currently, CCS meets each Tuesday from 8:45am to 3:00pm. For the 2009-2010 school year the school day hours will be 9:00AM to 1:00PM.  Our core classes include Math, Reading, Language, Science, and Social Studies.

What are the prerequisites for attending CCS?
We require that all of our families are knit together by common convictions about the Biblical principles relating to marriage, family, parenting, and the education of our children.  Parents must certify that they are in agreement with CCS' statement of faith.  Families must also participate in an interview with the Pastoral Advisor and CCS Administration.

How will the parents be involved?
Parents will be working together in a variety of ways - classroom aides, field trips, chapel, prayer ministry, and most of all, follow up at home.

What curriculum will be used?
Specific curriculum will be continually reviewed and chosen by the Director of Education and the teachers. Currently, CCS is using A Beka, Bob Jones, Modern Curriculum Press, and various literature selections.

What will the tuition be?
The tuition for each school year is based on enrollment.
Expected tuition for the 2009 - 2010 school year is $800.
Additional fees for books, field trips, and  registration are non-refundable.
